Back to the land of drive through everything and Wal-mart's galore!

Well, I'm back in Syracuse! The trip was long and I slept for approximately 5 minutes in the 24 hours! But it's been nice to catch up with people and start the job hunt! I've applied to a few jobs so far, so we'll see how we go! Andy is planning to move to the 'cuse in October (or earlier if I'm lucky! LOL)

Had a really nice farewell dinner at the Blue Gum! Got to catch up and say farewell to some really awesome friends! I miss you all so much already!

It was really hard to say goodbye to Andy and the fam at the airport. Even when we pulled out of our drive-way at Hornsby Heights I was teary! But at the same time, I'm doing pretty well since I know Andy and I will be in the same place very soon and we're on the same page with our relationship! YAY!

Since I've been back I've caught up with a few friends, been walking Dundee regularly, running, cleaning house, and most importantly...JOB HUNTING!

Anyway...not too much else to report than that! But check back in...I may have something interesting to say in the future!

Also...I've decided that I need to share the following video with you since The Mighty Boosh is now one of my favourite shows! Enjoy and more soon! xx

Promotion!!!

So this is a video made by Andy's cousin Peta and her friend Lindy! They are finalists in the Canis Film Festival...which means if they win, they get $500! Plus a commemorative trophy and a contract for video distribution with KPCT (Karen Pryor Clicker Training..apparently she's a God in the clicker training world!)

In the words of the festivals promotors, "The Canis Film Festival is designed to showcase innovative, highly–communicative, short videos on animal training. These videos help educate pet owners and professionals who work with animals—dogs, cats, horses, rats, birds, llamas, and more."

Anyway...enjoy and I'll have some more from my life coming soon...stay tuned! (If you're that bored! LOL)

This is my little sister Amanda's audition tape for a program she's trying to get into. I'm so proud!

Other than that...not too much happening in the life of Amy at the mo. Just been living the life of leisure and enjoying my last 5 weeks in Oz! Really sad to be heading home--leaving Andy behind for another 6 months :-(. Oh well...hopefully it will go quickly!
I am excited to see everyone at home though!

Ok...well...heading outside to do something productive!!

last day at MQ!

so tomorrow is my last day of work at macquarie uni! i can't believe how quickly 6 months went! i've really enjoyed working here...everyone has been super nice and i've learned a lot!

so now...i was planning to work for a company where i would greet people coming off the cruise ships...however i was just told yesterday that the days i agreed to work were just days and times i said i was available...not actual days i was rostered on. meaning...i dont have any work until they call me. BOO! BUT...on the (sort of) upside, I have applied for the registrar's job back at bryant & stratton! i say sort of because i really don't wanna leave andy earlier than april, but i know it's going to be really hard to find work back home, so if i can get back in with b&s, i'll be set!
anyway, had an amazing 26th birthday! andy got me a gorgeous necklace (!) and a paramore cd/dvd of a live concert, AND i got breakfast made for me :-) plus we're going out to dinner tomorrow night! and for the v-day weekend we're heading to the blue mountains to do some hiking and chill in a B&B! can't wait!

SO...on that note, peace out MQ...i'm off!

random

OK...so I promise I will eventaully get my 101 in 1001 up here SOON! I need to take the list home and really contemplate so I don't put down things I really don't want to!

Anyway, I'm not sure why, but I have this weird issue where I don't like bare feet rubbing on carpet, and I also hate touching towels (especially when they are hot and dry! EWW!) So Andy finds it hilarious when he does either of those things to annoy me! Last night he was trying to get a handle on my weirdness by asking the following:

"So what if I rub my feet on the carepet with socks on?"

No thats fine.

"So what if I rub me feet on the sheets?"

No thats fine.

"And would you be able to handle it if I rubbed your fleece bathrobe all over you?"

Yeah...it's fleece, not terrycloth!

So there it is folks. The weirdness that is Amy.

OK...back to work. And maybe a few minutes contemplating my 101 list!

Thanks for reading :-)

Little Things

I went for a walk the other night while Andy was at soccer training, just to get out of the house and get some fresh air (it was too hot in our house!) I headed down our street and stopped to say hi to my favourite pups! I think their names are Nala and Indy! They are gorgeous mix pups and they are just so excited everytime I go up to pat them! Their owner is quite a nice lady as well. Every time they are out playing, she chats with me. The love from the dogs reminds me of my baby Dundee! Ok...so April will be pretty good with that in mind!
I continue out onto the main road and come to the corner shop that sells everything from the newspaper to milk, deodorant, flowers, fruit, wrapping paper, and I bought our Christmas Tree there! It's a small family business, and it thrives in our community. I've never been able to walk to the corner shop, and I'm really glad I've had the chance while here!
Continuing on, I see my kitty friend (whom I've dubbed FLEA-even though I'm sure he doesn't have any...he just looks a bit dirty!) who is there everyday when I walk by. He's so dumb, he lays right in the middle of the driveway just inviting someone to hit him with the car! But he always seems to be there the next time, so I guess he moves when necessary. His colouring reminds me of Mittens--so very cute!
I continued my walk and arrived at my favourite place...Rofe Dog Park! It's the most amazing place...I know Dundee and friends would LOVE it! There are many dogs and owners that come to play and enjoy the sun! I asked Andy if it would be weird to go in there if I didn't have a dog with me. He said yes. BOO! Iit makes my day everyday when I pass the park!
I continue to walk around the track at the park. I look out over the bush valley and am reminded of why I love Australia! The wildlife continues to amaze me! I hear the ear piercing yet majestic cry of the cockatoo over head; I smell the fresh eucalyptus in the air; and the sky is bluer than anything I've ever seen!

I'm so glad I've had the past 6 months here (with 2 more to go!) and I've really enjoyed being able to live in a place of our own, and to experience Hornsby Heights as a local. I would love to someday buy a house here (if we can EVER afford it!)

Thanks for reading :-P

(PS. We went to our friends Rachel and Dusty's wedding this past weekend! So much fun! And gorgeous! More about this next time).

Back to Blog World!

Hello all!

I woke up at 4am Sydney time today to watch Barak Obama take the oath and become our 44th President. Through bleary eyes I watched and was inspired by his words. The speech wasn't gung ho as others he's delivered; it had a somber feeling to it. However, he truly made me believe that we can work together to make our nation great once again! (I'll do my best from Oz, but I think I'll have some more success when I'm back on home soil!)

Back now to Amy's world:

Well...it's back to blog world at last! Kenny K and Brandon R have inspired me to get on this 101 in 1001 train! I don't usually make goals for myself...just say there's a bunch of crap I wanna do and do it when I can. This, however, will force me to really think about my goals and actually have a list I can check things off of.
It may take me a few days/weeks to finalise this list, but I will post it soon!

Life:
I've been living in Australia with Andy for the past 6 months (from August 2008) and it's been wonderful! We've been living in his grandparents old house, and have been given a taste of what a 'real' couples life would be like! I'm working at Macquarie University as a PA, which has been good. Not my ultimate job to say the least, but none the less, it pays the bills! My contract ends on the 13th of February as my visa stipulates I must not work for one company for more than 6 months. So I'm now looking for a decent job between Feb and April when my visa expires. If I don't find anything, I think I'll head home and start looking for a job since that may take awhile anyway.
Andy is planning to move to Syracuse in October 2009 (he wants to get one more season in before commiting to a life of snow and unpredictable weather! Plus he's missed out on the last two seasons). So I'd like to have a job and have some money saved by the time he gets there so we can get a place of our own.

Other than that, life hasn't been too crazy! I went to Europe for a few weeks in May 2008 and had a ball! I would love to get over there again and for a bit more time. Maybe (if) I get my Aussie citizenship someday, Andy and I can go to the UK to work for a year and then more travel can happen! That is some time away though, so I'll have to do smaller trips until then.

Well...being back in Blog world is nice! More to come soon... :-)AM
